Offices keep a tally. A short call from a constituent who names the bill and says what they want is worth more than a long one that does neither.

01Say you are a constituentGive your name and the town you live in. It is the first thing the office logs and the only thing that decides whether your message counts.
02Name the billUse the number, HB 8, SB 1 and say whether you want a yes or a no. Staff tally calls by bill and position.
03Give one reason, in your wordsA sentence about your family, your church or your business does more than a page of talking points.
04Be brief and be courteousSixty seconds is enough. The person answering is often a college intern and they write down what they hear.
